SALEM, N.H. — A Methuen man was arrested in Salem and charged with selling eight grams of heroin in the Babies ‘R’ Us parking lot on South Broadway.

Salem detectives said they received a tip that the narcotics sale would be happening, along with a description of the alleged dealer’s car.

Rafael Concepcion, 47, was arrested without incident Thursday afternoon and charged with selling a controlled drug after police said they witnessed him sell eight grams of heroin for $110.

When approached by officers, Concepcion admitted that an illegal transaction had just happened, police said.

Officials said they did not find any more drugs in Concepcion’s car.

Police later discovered that Concepcion was carrying a Commonwealth of Massachusetts constable badge when he was transported to the Salem Police Department. Police said they are unaware of how he got the badge.

Concepcion was released on $1,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Salem District Court on Aug. 28.

A complete report will appear in Saturday’s print edition of The Eagle-Tribune.
